Further Guidelines for determining the winner of a round

Nelson "DOC" Hamilton described some fight elements that he looks at when trying to decide who won the match. The following is taken from his article "The Doc Is In: Judging Muay Thai" (11/11/2002, from http://www.mmarefs.com/thedocisin.asp)
Effective Technique-

Which fighter is landing the most effective strikes? Which fighter is controlling their position most effectively? Which fighter is executing guard passes, takedown defenses, and executing technically clean submission attempts?

This area includes Striking, Clinch Work, Takedowns, Submission attempts, Transitioning, and Positioning.

Effective Aggression -

This isn't about who exhibits more rage, but who is the logical aggressor. Who is putting more into winning? The person screaming and running across the ring is not necessarily the aggressor, the individual moving from technique to technique, from standing to ground and back to standing while pushing the fight and exhibiting effective effort is the individual who should be given the nod in this area.

Defensive Skills -

Who is avoiding and blocking the strikes, defending the takedowns, transitioning to avoid a submission, doing all of the above while moving into a position to execute their own attack?

Ring Generalship -

Who is in charge? Who is taking control of the arena by cutting off their opponent's escape routes, setting up attacks off of their opponent's reactions? Which fighter is doing more to use the ring to his/her advantage?
