MaximumG has been around for around 10 years in one form or another. The site has tried to be a lot of things to a lot of people and that's pretty much over.

MaximumG is now a simple combat sports focused fan site that will try to provide a few resources for combat sports fans.

We'll also be adding one of the largest, if not THE largest, martial arts school listing services on the Internet. The service will allow you to find a school in your area (primarily the USA) and, if we can get it off the ground, view rankings/reviews for the listed schools.

I've decided to move some of my Jiu-Jitsu articles to MaximumG.com. The first article slated for relocation focuses on the development of Perspective and Skill and really discusses learning requirements/styles.

Perspective and Skill

We live in a society where everything has to move at a lightening pace, where "right now" just isn't fast enough. And that highly focused goal oriented attitude has infused itself into every part of our lives. However, Jiu-Jitsu is one of those things that just works much, much better if we focus our energies on the process rather than the end result. Jiu-Jitsu is not something that you can learn over a weekend or even in a couple of years.

Too many people start training in Jiu-Jitsu with the belief that they'll train this submission stuff and be a champion in a few months. I've even had guys tell me "I wanted to get in a couple of classes so that I can fight." I hate to point this out to everyone, but Jiu-Jitsu isn't a magic wand that will instantly turn you into a great fighter. Jiu-Jitsu isn't something that you can learn overnight. Jiu-Jitsu isn't even a single path, it has as many paths as there are people who train it, and there is ultimately no destination. It is the journey that matters.

Quick Kills by Erik Paulson

Erik Paulson is an American MMA pioneer and one of the best trainers on the planet. He is a student of Yori Nakamura (1989), Dan Inosanto (1988), Benny Urquidez(1988), and Rorion Gracie(1988). He was the first American to go to Japan and come home with a world title from a Japanese MMA organization (Shooto).

The Quick Kills instructional begins with a short highlight of action from the tape. Erik then introduces himself and his assistant Jeremy Bennet before going on to define Quick Kills as "the most efficient way to finish a fight from striking to grappling to finishing."
